When the time comes to place your order: I have added 3 listings that allow you to build your own custom word wall hanging. With them you can add individual letters , hearts , and daisies to your wall hanging. Just specify which color you'd like and which order in the wall hanging it should be. I also filmed a little video walkthrough to demonstrate 

I am willing to take on very select custom projects. If your custom request matches my style (kitschy, witchy, rude etc) and my color palette (jewel tones and pastels) I am more likely to accept your custom order. Please email shawna@cookiesmut.com with your custom order request.

Your rug or wall hanging may arrive folded. It should lay flat again with no crease simply by letting it lay flat for a while or by gently folding it back the other way. In case it still keeps a crease, a gentle steaming can help. Vacuuming and/or lint rolling can freshen your piece back up again post shipping

A small amount of shedding is normal. Please contact us if it sheds more than that.

All pieces should be spot cleaned only. As with all things made of yarn, these tufted pieces are prone to pilling so use a dabbing motion rather than a scrubbing motion when possible.

Please note: these pieces are intended as decorative art pieces only, if used as a floor rug, use in no or low traffic areas only.

All our earrings are nickel-free and hypoallergenic. However, those with particularly sensitive ears may still have some problems. For detailed metal composition for all our earring components, check our Earring materials and care page

I am no longer taking custom cookie orders. The only possible exceptions are for paid content creation or for charity fundraising events.

Custom cookie orders got to where they brought me more stress than I felt worth it, especially when shipping them. Thank you for understanding!

Embossed cookie cutters (also known as indentation cookie cutters or stamp cookie cutters) have a design already built into the cutter itself! No need for fiddly royal icing! 🤣

The embossed cookie cutters in my shop are designed to perfectly emboss the design into the cookie dough when it’s rolled out to 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick. To achieve a perfect 1/4 inch thickness, I recommend getting a rolling pin or rolling pin system with guides to help you achieve the right thickness. I personally have this rolling pin with guides but any similar system will work just fine.

Even using a rolling pin with guides, after an initial rolling, your dough may be a bit uneven due to the natural flex in the rolling pin or in the surface on which you’re rolling. To check if your dough is even, your hands are gonna be better than your eye. Just rub your hand over the dough, see if there are any uneven spots and keep rolling until you have one perfect 1/4 inch slab.

After rolling, just use the cookie cutter, you know, like how you use a cookie cutter. One tiny tip is that I will sometimes press with a little extra oomph on the parts of the cookie cutter that have the most important or intricate designs to ensure that that design gets transferred well.

Next comes what can be the tricky part, removing the cookie cutter without any dough getting stuck to any part of the design. For tips on that, read the next FAQ…

Embossed cookie cutters, especially ones with a lot of detail and a lot of pieces close together, are prone to sticking. I’m a little new to making and using these embossed cookie cutters myself but so far these are the tips I’ve got:

• Use dough that is slightly chilled. If using freshly mixed dough, chill dough at least 30 minutes after mixing. If you have stored the dough in your fridge for longer than that, let the dough sit out and soften just enough so that it’s pliable enough to roll and cut, but if the dough gets too warm, pop it back in the fridge for a bit. Do NOT however freeze the dough, then it becomes too hard for the delicate parts of the cutter to leave their mark
• Flour the cutter before use. Keep a small pile of flour, or better yet a shallow wide tupperware filled with flour, on your cutting surface and dip the cutter in before use. Check that all the embossing pieces of the cutter are covered in flour before cutting.
• Use a small rocking motion when removing the cutter. If I begin to pull a cookie cutter out and I can feel it sticking, I stop pulling straight up and I apply a small but vigorous rocking motion while pulling gently. I’ll first rock in one direction then if it’s still sticking pretty badly, I’ll rotate my hand 90 degrees and repeat.
• Push the cookie out from the top of the cookie cutter with a paintbrush. If all else fails, as a last resort, I’ll push the cookie out from the top of the cookie cutter. I design my cutters to always have a hole in the top of each section not only for this purpose, but because I also think it makes washing the cutters easier. I recommend using a small paintbrush to do this because it’s soft and with a large enough surface area that it’s less likely to leave any marks on the dough.

• Reach out to me if you’re still having trouble. I test and tweak each of my cutters myself precisely to ensure that they actually work as embossed cookie cutters and can reliably release from the dough. It’s so important to me that I’m not just a “3D printer cookie cutter farm” that cranks out the trendiest cutters without ever being tested on actual cookie dough. I’m a cookier and I make and design my cutters for people who actually want to bake and eat fun decorated cookies. If you are still having trouble with your cutter using all the tips above, there’s a good chance that there’s a flaw or an area of improvement in the design itself. No! The material that Cookie Smut cookie cutters are printed out of will warp with heat and should not be washed in the dishwasher nor with hot water from the faucet. Simply wash with soapy lukewarm water
